mourning for love

Sometimes you want to scream out loud that you feel miserable and alone and on other days you want to keep all the emotions to yourself.

For the project called “New European Identity” students from Iceland, Finland, Estonia and
Holland worked together to create outfits
inspired by traditions around birth, wedding and death in the countries involved.

As a group of four students we developed two
modern translations of the Dutch traditional mourning wear. The first dress has cuttings
between the pleats which you can hide or reveal.
A flower transforms from wilted into blooming.

Black or white, happy or sad?
The second outfit we created is a dress with strips that point out. Folding them transforms the dress from black into white or the other way around.
